thirty Project Outhouse

November 16, 2010 § Leave a comment

My latest project is something I call “outhouse.” I will be making a short documentary about gender-inclusive spaces. Planning is beginning this Friday, November 19 in the Umpqua River Room in the EMU at 2 p.m. If you’re interested please come! I hope to get ideas and a concrete plan to execute this. The name, Project Outhouse, comes from the idea of an outhouse, which is one of the most inclusive kinds of bathrooms. It also sparks a feeling of being knocked out of indoor plumbing, into an outhouse because you don’t fit into gender norms.

Eventually I’d like to send this out to other Universities and schools to raise awareness about this often invisible issues that so many students face. It should also provide an interesting portfolio piece. I have so many ideas about this film, and I’ll keep the blog updated on how Project Outhouse is going!
